Given the occurrence of different criminal cases, a tourist destination can present an image in the market of "unsafe destination", positioning that usually causes a devaluation of it in the market and that the demand marginalizes it in the choice as its vacation destination.

The union between security and tourism is vital for the protection of life, health, physical and psychological integrity of visitors, which must be assumed responsibly by the main actors in the tourism sector.

We call Tourist Security the protection of life, health and physical, psychological and economic integrity of visitors to a tourist destination, service providers and the members of the host community themselves, it is essential to identify potential risks and dangers for visitors.

In many countries in Latin America, Africa and the Middle East, crime and guerrillas affect tourism, since tourists are afraid of spending the night in a destination where it is known, mainly through the media, of the existence of violent acts.
